The Tech Hackathon. 24 hours to build a working prototype and pitch it to the jury, industry leaders and investors.
Ohrid TechAthlon unfolds in three phases. In the Learn Phase (workshops + challenges), you gain the knowledge and skills tied to your chosen challenge topic. In the Build Phase (Ideathlon), you put that knowledge into action, developing a project aligned with the challenge theme. The final Compete Phase (Tech Hackathon) is where you showcase your solution in a competitive arena — and shine.

Developers, designers, marketers and business strategists — every skill set has a place. No gatekeeping, no prerequisites.

Connect with fellow hackers, mentors and founders from across the region. The friendships and teams you build here last way past the weekend.

Industry experts, mentors and partner companies bring actual problems from the real world. You ship actual solutions. No toy datasets, no fake clients.

Win cash, seed funding, and direct pipelines to accelerator programs, internships and jobs.
Whether you’re just discovering your talent or ready to launch, there’s a track built for your stage.
The Ideathlon sets the stage for exhilarating, innovative challenges across diverse domains — Web Development, Creative Design, AI, IoT, Game Development, FinTech, Sustainability and more. Designed for fresh starters and inspiring young minds, it combines themed workshops with a challenge-based mini-competition, guided by mentors through learning-by-doing. Exceptional projects are recognized, rewarded — and earn the chance to advance to Day 2: the Tech Hackathon.
The Tech Hackathon is a 24-hour sprint designed to turn ideas from concept to reality — an intensive design, coding and agile development challenge where aspiring entrepreneurs, developers, designers and makers pitch ideas, form teams, validate concepts and build business prototypes. Winning teams take home cash prizes, sponsor goodies, and fast-track entry to partner acceleration programs.
Start by understanding the challenge — who is affected, what the problem truly is, and why it matters before any solution is built.
Shape thoughtful, human-centred ideas. Explore diverse perspectives and plan technology-enabled solutions that respond to real needs.
Turn ideas into action — build prototypes, products, and experiences that bring innovation to life with purpose and creativity.
Evaluate impact, feasibility, and ethics. Learn from the process to build a more inclusive, sustainable, and compassionate future.
Each edition, our mentors and partners (challengers) bring interesting challenges, tasks and problems needed to be solved during the event sessions (workshops, challenges, and hackathon). Pick one, team up, challenge yourself and build a working prototype in 24-48 hours.
Explore the challenges and compete for prizes!
We divide them into two categories:

Ohrid Techathlon is a hackathon built to push young entrepreneurs toward real business ideas, not just code. Teams spend a weekend turning a rough concept into a working prototype, then pitch it to a jury of founders, engineers, and industry mentors. The event is organized to give participants a full cycle: idea, build, feedback, pitch.
The themes change every edition. This year, teams work on business and technology solutions in Web Development, Creative Design, AI, Blockchain, IoT, Game Development, FinTech, Sustainability and more. You still need to bring a feasible, original idea; the tech framework's angle and tech stacks just set the boundary for what you(can) build inside.
You learn by building, not by sitting through slides. You spend the weekend next to founders, engineers, and mentors who show up specifically to work with participants, and those conversations often turn into job offers, co-founder matches, or investor introductions. Your ticket also covers meals, snacks, and coffee for the full event, so the cost buys access, not just admission.
Ohrid Techathlon is open to anyone between 15 and 29 years old.
No. Ohrid Techathlon needs programmers, but it also needs designers, business strategists, and people who are simply good at solving problems. Mentors run workshops during the weekend so non-technical participants can contribute to a working prototype, including no-code tools that let you build without writing a line of code.
That's fine. Say so on your application or tell an organizer when you arrive. Ideas get pitched at the start of the event, and you're free to join whichever one interests you most.
No. You can apply solo. If you do, the organizers help match you with teammates during the kickoff session, once everyone's specialties are on the table.
Teams run up to 5 people. You don't have to declare your team before the event unless a specific challenge says otherwise.
Three ways work best. Talk to the mentors and tell them you're looking; they actively match solo participants. Bring friends or classmates who already share your interest. Or wait for the on-site team-building session that runs right after task details get announced, and build a team from people you just met.
Every specialty gets its own badge color. Marketing wears blue, programmers wear yellow, and so on through the rest of the disciplines. Check the badge before you ask who does what.
Yes, up until your team leader submits the project and presents the idea. Once voting rounds open, team details lock: no more changes to the team name, project name, members, or attachments.
Click Apply Now and fill out the short application. Applications get reviewed on a rolling basis, and you'll get a confirmation email with next steps once you're in.
Standard tickets run €24.99. Students pay €14.99. If you register early, you lock in the early bird rate of €19.99. Every tier includes food and drinks for the full weekend.
Other participants and/or guests (guests, companies, entrepreneur, startup founders, innovators, experts etc.) are also invited to join with a special price ticker starting from €24.99.
For more info about tickets and what is included (benefits and perks) please visit Tickets section.
Two reasons. Ticket revenue covers part of the organizing cost; sponsors cover the rest, but not all of it. A ticket price also filters for participants who are actually committed to showing up and building, while staying low enough that cost isn't a barrier.
If your question isn't covered here, reach out to the Ohrid Techathlon organizing team directly through the event's official contact channel.
